Thomas M. Farah is a Partner at Berke Farah LLP. Tom’s practice focuses on providing legal advice and guidance to business organizations (both for-profit and non-profit) looking for experienced general counsel-level services. With a long history of providing legal counsel to executive teams, leading legal teams, corporate compliance, contract negotiations, transactions in the healthcare regulatory environment, and legal services for business activities in general, Tom is able to offer efficient value-added counsel to executive teams and in-house legal teams looking for a partner on special matters.

Prior to joining Berke Farah LLP, Tom served as General Counsel to Surescripts LLC (the nation’s largest electronic prescription and health information network, connecting pharmacies, PBMs, hospital systems, managed care organizations, and physician practice groups throughout the United States). Before Surescripts, he served as General Counsel to Catalyst Health Solutions, Inc. (a publicly traded pharmacy benefit management company—PBM—that has since been acquired by another healthcare company). During Tom’s tenure at Catalyst, the privacy rule for HIPAA was implemented, as was the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (which reformed public company reporting and internal controls) along with related changes in the NASDAQ market rules. As a result, he has had considerable practical experience with the effort businesses must undertake to respond to, and comply with, rapid changes in the regulatory environment, while minimizing or avoiding disruption to stakeholders, business models and services.

Tom began his legal career at Epstein Becker & Green, PC, where he became an equity partner and practiced in the healthcare sector, providing regulatory, corporate, and merger and acquisition-related legal services predominantly for the firm’s managed care organization clients.

Tom received both his undergraduate degree in economics and government and his law degree, from Georgetown University. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and several courts, including the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States
